Five Garden Herbs That Fight Cancer

There are a lot of reasons why someone may wish to plant a  garden. One reason is to have fresh fruits and vegetables as well as herbs to use when cooking and for eating. For many, however, the reasons rarely go beyond their quest for fresh foods.

Additionally, herbs are added to foods for many reasons and will help to improve the taste. Some of these herbs can also help in the quest to fight diseases. As cancer continues to rise, many are seeking out ways to help ward it off. Adding in some of the following fresh herbs may be a way to help fight it off.

Parsley

Frequently considered a garnish, parsley is a herb that should merit more exploration. Apigenin is the oil within parsley. It’s been shown that it can help to prevent the development of the blood vessles which carry nutrients to cancer tumors, this is known as angiogenesis.

Dill

When most people think of dill, they think of pickles. However, dill has a compound called monoeterpenes which can help to stimulate an enzyme called glutathio9ne S transferase. It is an antioxidant which is very effective at targeting various carcinogens including free radicals. It’s also full of essential oils that are helpful in stimulating digestive juices. This also helps to activate bile and keep the intestines functioning properly.

Rosemary

Rosemary’s woody scent is ideal for many purposes. It is a naturally occurring substane which can stop cancer cells from reproducing in tumors. Terpenses have fatty acids which have fatty acids that when used beside many drugs that are used in chemotherapy help to render cancer cells useless.

Mint

Mint helps to deprive cancer tumors of their blood supply. Eventually, the nutrient deprivation kills the tumors. They contain a phytochemical which cuts off the blood supply.

Thyme

Thyme has long been used for medicinal purposes. With over 350 species of thyme, it has terpense as rosemary does. In thyme, these are called thymol. It’s an antioxidant, an antibacterial and an antispetic. It’s also an anti inflammatory which makes it ideal for reducing the swelling in the mouth and throat when a sore throat abounds.

To remain in good health, it only requires a few herbs. It’s easy to add them to a meal when they are grown fresh  in the garden. They can offer the body the proper tools to help fight off cancer. One of the best parts is that if you’re growing it in your own garden, you know right where it came from and if there are any pesticides on it. It’s easy to eat healthy when you grow your own herbs, fruits, and vegetables. If more people knew this there might be healthier people in this world.
